Cahill Involvement
- Cahill supports continuing education on brownfields development, sustainable materials, energy efficiency, and environmental protection.
- Cahill researches and facilitates recycling and salvage of materials during demolition and construction to meet Owner and Architect requirements.
- Cahill participates in panel discussions / presentations on sustainable construction, and energy efficiency for HVAC systems.
- Cahill participates in quarterly roundtable meetings at San Francisco Mayor's Office of Housing on Green Building with several Non-Profit Housing Organizations.
- Cahill attends an annual international seminar on environmental design and construction (The USGBC GreenBuild Conference).
- Cahill assisted in the writing of the Alameda County Waste Management Authority Multi Family Green Building Guidelines as a technical review consultant.

- Bishop Swing Community House to become a Green Communities certified building.
- Photo voltaic installation completed at Folsom / Dore Apartments and at Mission Creek Senior Housing in San Francisco; at Lion Creek Crossings in Oakland.
- 2005 Award of Excellence – Green Roof from the Environmental Building News for our North Beach Housing project.
- Working with Leddy Maytum Stacy Architects on the Bay Area Discovery Museum, we utilized many sustainable building materials – including certified lumber, salvaged wood products, medite, wheatboard panels, sunflower board panels, lumasite panels and recycled glazing. We also set up a recycling program for construction waste, separating materials for maximum recycling. This project has received the 2005 Preservation Design Award by the CA Preservation Foundation.

- Broadway & Sansome Apartments, Affordable Family Apartments in San Francisco – Goal: Build It Green Multifamily Guidelines, maybe LEED.
- 1400 Mission Family Housing & Retail, Units for Low Income Families in San Francisco – Goal: LEED™ Silver NC 2.2 (New Construction).
- Note: Past preconstruction efforts for two office buildings utilizing major sustainable techniques including a living roof. (Those projects have been postponed due to the economy).
